Lizzy Wedgwood-Bates, EcoBlissBeauty Ltd and Imagine Skincare
"I have a small natural skincare business and have recently branched out into making skincare products. Trading Standards have been a real help popping out to see me and advising me about labelling and helping me check my wordings on products. They even saved me £1,000 with their advice on packaging of one of my products! Invaluable!"

‘We would like to share our appreciation for the help and assistance we have received from our local Trading Standards officer. Shortfalls in our compliance record keeping were highlighted which we have now worked on and rectified. We also now have peace of mind that as new directives, consumer rights and rules and regulations change with Brexit looming that we have the support we need as and when we need it.
I would highly recommend the consultation service to any other businesses’.
Davinia Whiteoak, Get Fruity Bars, Roche
‘We asked the officer about T1 and T2 weights and he advised us where we could increase our tolerances. This in turn has saved us a substantial amount of money due to rejecting less bars. There is no doubt that our business has benefited from our trading standards visit and I am very happy to recommended the service to other businesses.’
Jake Sacree, Manager Gecko Head Gear, Bude
Working in the Personal Protective Equipment market dealing with national and international clients such as Ministry of Defence and the Coastguards, we pride ourselves on delivering a top quality product that ticks all the boxes they require for the kit and all the boxes their legal and health and safety departments require. Having quick and easy access to Trading Standards on the phone or in person benefits our product quality and helps us not to make any mistakes that could possibly cost us financially. With so many changes to PPE directives and consumer rights within the UK and worldwide, it is always reassuring to know we have help when we need it.
John Marks, CGB Giftware Company, Bude
Just to confirm our appreciation of the support we have received from Trading Standards and in particular the help and guidance we receive with regard to meeting compliance requirements across the diverse range of products which we market throughout the U.K. and Europe. Our relationship with Cornwall TS dates back over 45 years and covers a period of EFTA prior to the EU. The guidance and support of TS throughout this period of change has assisted and ensured the commercial viability of many of our products for which we are grateful. On occasions, as you are aware, your highlighting of costs and difficulties in meeting compliance on specific products has resulted in our rejecting the prospect of marketing the product and this we have viewed as a positive outcome from the Company viewpoint.
William Morris, Chief Operating Officer, Charlie Bears, Launceston
Charlie Bears arranged a consultation with Trading Standards back in December 2013 and since this time have arranged further meetings annually to check on progress for compliance. These meetings did highlight shortfalls within our previous record keeping and testing which have since been worked on and rectified and in many cases Trading Standards have offered advice where cost savings on testing could be implemented but still falling within the current regulations. I would highly recommend a local consultation as this has given us peace of mind that our products are not only safe but also our record keeping also complies with all current regulations.
