Our Commercial Food, Safety and Port Health team have won a national award!
The team attended the Improvement and Efficiency Social Enterprise (iESE) awards in London and won Bronze in the Best Use of Digital, Technology and Data category.
About the nomination
The team used existing software and hardware to move to a paperless digital system.
Businesses now receive an automated/electronic inspection report. The new system has also reduced post-inspection administration time.
This means our Food Safety Officers have more time to support businesses face-to-face.
Jonathan Blackman, Environmental Health Team Manager for Food Safety, Port Health and Exports, said:
“I’m grateful for the support of my Line Manager Nick Kelly and to my colleagues for embracing the new way of working. I am also thankful to our officers who have contributed to it's improvement and success”
Key points
Their nomination demonstrated how the project:
- contributed to a 64% increase in the number of delivered inspections.
- Had a wider impact on the broader local food business sector
Latest data from the Food Standards Agency shows 98% of inspected Cornish food businesses are broadly compliant.
