Redundancy and Efficiency

What if I am retired on the grounds of redundancy or efficiency?

If your age is 55 or over and have at least 2 years pensionable membership in the scheme, you will be entitled to:

  • the unreduced payment of your pension and lump sum that you have earned up to the date of leaving employment.

If you are under 55 then you will be entitled to:

  • a preserved pension which you will have the option of transferring to another pension provider. Visit the 'What if I leave before retirement?' page for more information.

For further information on redundancy or efficiency please contact your Human Resources/Payroll department. We are unable to provide employees with estimates of pension benefits under either of these grounds of leaving service.

The Government has announced the earliest age that you can take your pension will be increased from age 55 to 57 from 6 April 2028. This will not apply to ill health retirements.
