What happens next
Engagement strategy
We need to have a strategy setting out how we will involve you in the development of the Local Plan. This will be published for consultation as part of the scoping consultation in October/November 2026. Comments received and actions proposed will be summarised and published alongside the final strategy.
Following scoping and early engagement, we will:
Review all feedback received
Refine the scope, vision and strategic approach
Prepare the draft Cornwall Local Plan for consultation
There will be further opportunities to get involved as the Local Plan progresses.

What has happened so far
Community engagement reflection reports
Following the drop-in events, we prepared a series of reflection reports to analyse and summarise what we heard. These reports include:
An introduction and methodology
Cornwall-wide feedback
Community Area Partnership (CAP) highlights
Conclusions and recommendations
CAP profiles and illustrations
These reports provide a transparent record of engagement and explain how early feedback is being used to inform the next stages of plan preparation.
Consent to photos obtained via Cornwall Local Plan/Creative Kernow Photography & Video consent forms between September 2025 - February 2026.
Early engagement and community drop-in events
As part of early engagement, we have carried out a programme of informal community drop-in events across Cornwall.
Between September 2025 - February 2026, 24 community drop-in sessions were held in towns and villages across Cornwall. These were delivered in partnership with Creative Kernow. These events provided opportunities for local people to:
Share what they value and treasure about their communities
Talk about the changes they would like to see over the next 25 years
Communities have their say in first wave of Cornwall Local Plan drop-in events
People in towns and villages across Cornwall take up the opportunity to have their say
Residents turn out to give their views on the future of Cornwall
Feedback from these events has helped shape the emerging vision and priorities for the Cornwall Local Plan.
