Get involved in the Cornwall Local Plan

Get involved in preparing the Cornwall Local Plan including current consultations and opportunities so we can consider your views.

Help shape the Cornwall Local Plan

We are preparing a new Local Plan which will guide how Cornwall grows and changes over the coming years.

We want to hear from:

  • Residents

  • Businesses

  • Community groups

  • Developers

  • Landowners

  • Statutory bodies

  • Stakeholders

Your views will help shape the future of Cornwall.

Current opportunities to be involved

Scoping and Engagement (Regulation 20)

We will be consulting on the scope and direction of the Local Plan in October/November.  This will include:

  • What the Local Plan should cover

  • Vision and strategic outcomes

  • How we will engage with communities

  • Key sustainability issues

This stage is about understanding Cornwall and starting to decide the direction of the Plan.  It is not about allocating specific sites or detailed policies.

We will publish more about the current consultations here so you can take part using the consultation links provided.

Community events

We have held some early community events and will continue to hold community events and engagement activities across Cornwall.  These may include:

  • Drop-in events

  • Workshops

  • Stakeholder meetings

  • Online engagement

Your nearest event will be provided by links on this page.

How to take part

You can take part in the Local Plan in many ways:

  • Submitting comments online through our consultation portal

  • Attending a local event or workshop

  • Sending written responses by email or post

Details of how to respond to each consultation will be provided on the relevant consultation page.

Understanding the Local Plan - explainer library

We know that planning covers a wide range of topics and can be complex.  To help you understand how the Local Plan works and what types of different topics mean, we will write plain-English guides.  These explainers are not technical evidence or policy documents.  They are made to help explain themes, terms and processes used in preparing the Cornwall Local Plan.

Technical topic papers and evidence that inform the Local Plan will be published separately on the evidence and documents page.

How we will use your feedback

All comments received will be recorded and considered.  They will help shape the next stage of the Local Plan.  Summaries of what we have from communities will be published on the Local Plan progress and updates page.

How we will involve you

Engagement on the Local Plan will be carried out in line with our engagement strategy which will set out who we will consult, how we consult and how feedback will be taken into account.  This will be published for consultation in October/November.
