Guidance on the content and policies in your neighbourhood plan


We have produced a number of guide notes on different policy areas.  These will help Neighbourhood Planning Groups understand the different topics that their plans can cover. The guide notes have been sorted into different categories.  This makes it simpler to find the advice that you are looking for.  In some cases, the links will take you to guidance that has been produced by other organisations.

Housing Guide Notes

The guide notes in this section relate to the development of new homes.  Including locations where new homes will be supported, design, the types of new home and any exceptions to policy. 

Environment and Heritage Guide Notes

The guide notes in this section relate to environmental and heritage issues. These include:

Process Guide Notes

Please use our Preparing a Neighbourhood Plan Toolkit, guide notes and templates to learn HOW  to produce a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP), which sets out the key stages of the process and the steps that you need to take to ensure that your NDP meets the statutory requirements.  It also has useful templates that will help you with some of the key documents that you will need to produce to support your Neighbourhood Plan.
