Follow our step by step guide to arrange your Distinctive wedding ceremony.

Step 1 - Contact us

Ceremonies at a Registration Office

Contact us on 0300 1234 181 to book your Ceremony Registrars. You will need to pay us a deposit. We will then send you a confirmation pack.

Ceremonies at an Approved Venue

Contact your chosen venue and make a provisional booking, then call us on 0300 1234 181 to book your Ceremony Registrars. You will need to pay us a deposit. We will send you a confirmation pack. Once booked, you will need to confirm your booking with your venue.

Step 2 - Book an appointment at your local Registration Office

Book your Notice of Marriage/Notice of Civil Partnership appointment at your local Registration Office. If you live in Cornwall, please call us on 0300 1234 181. You can book this up to 12 months prior to your ceremony and normally no less than 28 days before (or 70 days in some circumstances).

Step 3 - Pay for your ceremony

Pay any outstanding balance for your ceremony. You may do this by card, cheque (made payable to Cornwall Council) or cash at your notice appointment if you are attending a Cornwall Registration Office. Alternatively you can telephone 0300 1234 181 and pay by card, or send us a cheque to: Dalvenie House, County Hall, Truro, TR1 3AY. Please ensure that full payment is made at least 28 days in advance of your ceremony date.

Step 4 - Personalise your ceremony

Take a look at the preferences sheet included in your confirmation pack and decide on how you wish to personalise your ceremony. Your ceremony registrar will contact you approximately 1 month before your ceremony to discuss these with you. Please bear in mind that any music and readings must not contain any religious content.

Step 5 - On the day

Ceremonies at a Registration Office

On the day, Partner 1 should meet us 15 minutes prior to the ceremony start time, and Partner 2 should meet us 10 minutes prior. Your ceremony registrar will then run through some pre-ceremony questions with you both and answer any questions you may have.

Ceremonies at an Approved Venue

On the day, Partner 1 should meet us 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start time, and Partner 2 should meet us 15 minutes prior. Your ceremony registrar will then run through some pre-ceremony questions with you both and answer any questions you may have.
