Privacy notice for funeral personalisation, webcasting and visual tributes


If requested by the person arranging the funeral, we offer multimedia services through our technology partner, Vivedia Limited (trading as Obitus). These services include:

  • Live streaming of the service

  • Digital recordings of the service

  • Visual photo tributes

What personal information we use

To provide these services, we may process:

  • Video and audio recordings of the service, including images and voices of attendees, speakers and the celebrant.

  • Photographs, music and video clips provided by the family for tribute presentations

Why we use this information

We use this information because:

  • Legitimate interests: To allow family and friends who cannot attend in person to watch or listen to the service.

  • Contractual obligation: To provide the tribute and recording services requested by the person arranging the funeral.

How long we keep the information

Live streams are only available to authorised viewers who have the correct login details.

Recordings are stored securely by Obitus for 28 days after the service.  They are then automatically deleted, unless the applicant has purchased a keepsake copy, such as a USB drive or DVD.
