A booking system trial is in place at 7 of our busiest sites: Newquay, Saltash, St Erth, Bude, Launceston, St Austell and Bodmin (Lanivet) HWRCs.
Please be advised that there are resurfacing works taking place on the A391 from 6th May for a period of 4 weeks. The road will be closed for the duration.
If you wish to visit St Austell HWRC, please follow diversion signs through the alternative access route Holmbush Road, Mount Charles Road, Clifden Road, Slades Road, Treverbyn Road.

Why we are trialling a booking system
Some of Cornwall’s HWRCs are being used as trial sites to evaluate the success of a booking system in improving queues on site and onto the road.
During busy periods across our household recycling centres, we have seen numbers of visitors exceed the capacity of the sites.
This causes;
- queuing
- traffic issues
- and long waiting times
This also causes site staff operational and health and safety issues.
How to make a booking
You can use a booking form to book your 30 minute time slot.
You will need to complete some personal details for the booking and then select;
- a time
- a date
- and a site
A booking confirmation will then be sent to the email address you provided.
If you do not have access to the website form, you can call us to make a booking on 0300 1234 141. Phone lines open from 10am on Wednesdays, and from 9am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Lines close at 6pm.
You can make a booking the same day depending on availability or up to 1 week in advance.
Please be aware this is may be subject to change throughout the trial period.
You can book more than one slot using the same process.
How to amend your booking
To change your booking, you will need to cancel your old booking and make a new one using the same link on the Council’s website. A link is provided in the email confirmation to cancel your booking.
You cannot change the registration number on your booking, so ensure this is entered correctly. If you need to change it, you will have to cancel and rebook the appointment.
Availability of slots
Bookings are made on a first come first served basis. Cancelled appointments may also be made available at the last minute.
Foreign number plates
Foreign number plates can still book using the booking form. Please ensure that you put the correct registration in.
Before you book
Our recycling centres are open on appointment basis only.
- Please make full use of our collection service before attending
- Business or trade waste is not accepted
- Appointments are available up to 7 days in advance.
- Same day appointments may be available depending on availability
- There are a limited number of appointments per day, booked on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
- If you intend to visit the site more than once on the same day you will need to make a separate booking for each visit.
