If you have household waste that can’t be collected with your rubbish or recycling, you can take it to one of 14 household waste and recycling centres across Cornwall.
Extended opening hours trial
All HWRCS (with the exception of Tintagel) will stay open until 6pm on Wednesdays starting on 7 April and ending on 4 August. Tintagel is closed on a Wednesday so will stay open until 6pm on Mondays starting on 12 April and ending on 9 August.
The sites will close at the usual time of 4pm on all other days.
The number plate entry system remains in place to limit the number of people visiting HWRCs and ensure the sites remain covid-secure.
- Last digit of your vehicle number plate is even - 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8. You should only visit a HWRC on an even date of the month, e.g. 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th.
- Last digit of your number plate is odd - 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9. You should only visit an HWRC on an odd date of the month, e.g. 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th.
If there are queues and you attend on the wrong date, site staff may turn you away and ask you to return on the correct date.
There are charges for some types of waste like charges for asbestos, plasterboard, soil, rubble and tyres, and they do not take commercial waste.
If you have a commercial vehicle designed to carry goods or large trailer, you need a vehicle permit to use the household waste recycling centres.
