Visiting with a large trailer or a commercial vehicle designed to carry goods like a van or pickup? Then you’ll need a permit to use the Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs).
These permits are free and for household waste only.
We only take commercial or trade waste at our St Erth and Launceston HWRCs. To find out more, visit: Commercial Waste at HWRCs.
How the permit works
- One permit per household: You can only have one permit at a time, and it must be linked to a single vehicle.
- Your address matters: The permit must be registered to a home address in Cornwall that is registered for Council Tax.
- 12 visits per year: Your permit allows you up to 12 visits in a 12-month period from the date it’s issued. Your permit will remain valid until all 12 visits have been used.
- Need more visits? You can apply for a new permit once 12 months has passed since your last one was issued.
- Changed your vehicle or moved house? You must notify us of any change of address and apply for a new permit if you change your vehicle or its registration number.
We reserve the right to cancel your permit or amend the operation of the HWRC Vehicle Permit scheme at any time.
Anyone visiting our HWRCs must comply with Cornwall Council's HWRC access terms and conditions.
