Drive EV2 - new electric vehicle charge points

EU and HM Government logos

The Drive EV2 Project is bringing new public access electric vehicle charge points to Cornwall. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Cornwall Council. This will fund 150 EV charge points. These include a small number of rapid/ ultra-rapid charge points at locations currently without adequate rapid-charging capacity.

The UK Government has banned the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030. The Drive EV2 Project will support this switch to electric vehicles. Transport is our largest single source of carbon emissions. Therefore, this is an important part of our efforts to work together to tackle climate change and improve air quality.

The funded charge points will be located in Cornwall Council owned car parks. The project team worked with experts to review sites and agree locations, based on technical capacity, demand and accessibility. The aim is to ensure good charging coverage throughout Cornwall.

SWARCO will install, operate and maintain the project funded charge points. The work has begun and will be completed in the summer.

Users will pay to use the charge points. The cost of charging will be set by the supplier and will cover the operation and maintenance throughout the contract.
