Cornwall chosen to deliver national pilot scheme to create better services for young people
Cornwall is one of only 12 local authorities selected to take part in a national scheme aimed at improving activities, services and opportunities for young people.
Following a successful bid to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the council has been awarded more than £677,000 to deliver its Local Youth Transformation Pilot in partnership with Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) youth groups.

Driver receives £150 Fixed Penalty Notice after passenger drops McDonald’s bag out of car
The offence was recorded by a CCTV camera
A driver has been issued a £150 Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) after one of their passengers dropped litter out of the car.
The offence took place in Bugle, near St Austell, and was captured on CCTV.
The footage showed a car pulling in and a passenger getting out of the vehicle. A McDonald’s takeaway bag and McFlurry cup were dropped out of the car while the door was open.

Free parking in Cornwall Council car parks and Truro Park and Ride travel in December
It will be free to park in all Cornwall Council car parks and to travel on the Truro Park and Ride for three dates in December, including Small Business Saturday.
All Council pay and display and pay on exit car parks, as well as the park and ride, will be free on two Saturdays in December – 7 and 14 and on Monday 23.
The Council is once again supporting Small Business Saturday, a national initiative now in its 11th year.....

Cabinet announces automatic enrolment for free school meals
Cornwall Council will become one of the first local authorities in the country to introduce automatic enrolment for Free School Meals (FSM), helping thousands of children and putting up to £3m back into family budgets and Cornwall’s schools each year.

Hidden underwater world: huge seagrass bed discovered in Cornwall could help tackle climate change
A Cornwall Council project looking at the potential of seagrass in helping to tackle climate change has revealed one of the biggest seagrass meadows ever found in UK waters.
