Training you will need to complete
You must complete:
- Paediatric First Aid.
This can be booked free of charge through our Early Education Training. You can also find alternative training instead. - Child protection Training.
You can complete the Single Agency safeguarding training which is an introduction to child protection. You can also complete the ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ course which is a Level 3 multi agency training. There is currently no charge for these. They can be completed online through the Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Safeguarding Partnership. - At your registration visit with Ofsted, you’ll need to show that you have the required knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

- Register with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) as data controller - £40.00
- Advise your home insurer

Grants
Start up grant
At the Spring Budget on 15 March 2023 a new start-up grant for childminders was announced. This is a £600 grant is available for those who register with Ofsted, and £1200 for those who register with a childminder agency. It is payable to any individual who has completed their childminder registration on or after 15 March 2023. New childminders will be able to apply for the grant from autumn 2023.
