Registering with Ofsted – three steps to follow

Once registered, pay the registration fee - £35.00 per year
Applications will not normally be held open for more than six weeks while you complete your training (see below). Ofsted aims to register applicants for childminding within 12 weeks of receiving your application. Ofsted will visit you and once you are approved and registered. You will then be emailed a registration certificate.
What else does Ofsted require?
DBS checks
Apply for Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for all people in your household over 16 years old. Applicants must use the Ofsted DBS Application online system.
The cost of this is £48.10 per person.
Ofsted strongly recommends joining the update service. This costs £13.00 per person. This is a sensible option in case your application takes longer than three months.
Health Declaration
Download and complete the health declaration form
Have the health check form signed by your local GP (charges vary) and post it to Ofsted. Please add your reference number to help Ofsted match it to your application.
Referees
You will need to provide contact details for two references; contact your referees and ask their permission to use them.
