Book Groups

Do you like to talk about books?

Lots of our libraries host book groups – find out what’s on at your local library.

Book groups can also make use of our book sets and meet in the community. If you'd like to set up your own group, pop into your local library and staff can help you get started.

What do we offer?

  • Book group sets of 12 copies

  • An online catalogue to browse from home or at the library

  • Free reservations and loans

  • Click and collect from your chosen library

  • Borrow for up to 12 weeks. (Please return as soon as you're finished so other groups can make use of the books.)

  • A book request form if you can't find what you're looking for

  • Borrow Box 'No Queues' eBook and eAudiobooks which your group can all read or listen to at once

  • A list of conversation starters

The Reading Agency Book Club Hub has further resources, book reviews, offers and tips for book clubs.

Online book club

Our online book club is free and easy to join in with on Facebook.

How does it work?

  • Each month you help us to choose a book

  • The chosen title is available throughout the month as an eBook and eAudiobook on Borrow Box. You can read or listen at your own pace.

  • You can get started with Borrow Box here. It's a free app - you'll need your library card number to log in.

  • We host a discussion on the last Tuesday of the month 5.30pm - 6.15pm in our Cornwall Book Club Facebook group.

  • For the discussion we post questions about the book and you can add your thoughts in the comments. We leave these up, so if you can’t make it on the evening, you can add your thoughts throughout the week.

  • We put up a poll to choose the next month’s book.

Books in alternative formats

Do you need a title in an alternative format such as Large Print or a talking book for a member of your group? Whilst we cannot guarantee this, we will try to obtain a suitable copy. Please e-mail libadmin@cornwall.gov.uk with the details.

Can't find what you're looking for?

If the book set that you wish to borrow is not available on our online catalogue, we will be happy to consider buying a set for our stock but cannot guarantee this.

Please fill in the details in the book set request form below or email libadmin@cornwall.gov.uk.

To help us answer your enquiry, please provide us with as much detail as possible. If the title you're requesting is to tie in with an author event or literary festival, please include the name and date of the event. If we are unable to obtain a copy of the book we will let you know.

All fields marked with an asterisk * are required
