Foster

Thinking you’d like to foster? We’d love to chat to you

We have a real shortage of foster carers. We need people like you be brave and take the step to make a call and find out more. You don’t need to be perfect - you just need to care.

At any one time there are 30 children and young people in Cornwall who need a place to call home. You could be:

  • single
  • live in a flat
  • rent where you live
  • be LGBTQ+

All you need to be a fosterer, is:

  • be able to provide a place of comfort and stability to help a child realise their potential
  • have your own place to live (rented or owned)
  • be over 21

Fostering makes such a difference

Martyna tells us what a difference it made to finally have a stable place to settle down and how it helped her to finish school.

I’m nearly convinced but I have questions…

We’re happy to answer any questions you have. Just give us call on 0300 456 0120. You can also email us: info@fosterwithyourlocalcouncil.org.uk. The best people to tell you what fostering is like are our foster carers themselves. You can listen to them discussing what it’s like to be a foster carer in our videos.
