Planned Public Transport Service Disruptions

Please read our information on how we are supporting residents and businesses, as well as information on affected services.


The list below shows the current known service disruptions for bus and rail services within Cornwall.

View all current and future planned roadworks that do not necessarily affect bus services.

Bus Service Disruptions

Road Closures – Truro Christmas Late Night Shopping and Markets

On the following days there will be a series of road closures in Truro City Centre.

Wednesdays 24 November, 1, 8, 15 and 22 December from 1500 to 2300.

Saturdays 27 November, 4, 11, and 18 December from 0600 to 1900.

This will affect the routing of bus services, including the Park and Ride. Outside the closure hours, services will continue to operate their normal routes.

Local Bus Services: During the closure hours all Transport for Cornwall and First Kernow inbound bus services from the railway station direction will divert via St Austell Street and will not serve the Museum and Boscawen Street stops.  Outbound services towards the railway station from the bus station will operate via St Austell Street, but will still serve Victoria Square.  All Transport for Cornwall journeys run by Travel Cornwall, will mainly pick up and drop off at Lemon Quay. They will not serve the Museum, with Victoria Square only being served by Service 484 to Trelander and Malpas Estate and Service 496.

Park and Ride: During the closure hours services will be unable to serve Quay Street.  For passengers travelling towards Tregurra Park and Ride you are advised to use the stop outside the Truro Museum on River Street.  For passengers travelling towards Langarth Park and Ride, you are advised to use the stop in Victoria Square.

Road Closure - Trewarmett Lane, Tintagel

29 November to 3 December 2021

Due to a road closure by Western Power Trewarmett Lane will be closed between 0730 and 1800 from the 29 November until the 3 December.  During the closure period Go-Cornwall Service 95 from Bude will operate to Tintagel, where it will turn and run to Bossiney where it will take the unclassified road to the B3206 and Camelford.  From Camelford the reverse will operate.  During the closure period the service will be unable to serve Tregatta, Trewarmett and Penpethy.  Access will be maintained for school and college services.

Road Closure - Penryn Christmas Lights

4 December 2021

Due to the switching on of the towns Christmas Lights, there will be road closures on West Street, Lower Market Street, Broad Street and Quay Hill in Penryn between 1800 and 1930 on the 4 December.  During the closure times local bus services will not be able to serve the centre of the town and Penryn Station.  Services from the Truro direction will divert from Treliever Road via Browns Hill, the B3292 and Commercial Road to Penryn Bridge before resuming the normal route.  Services from Falmouth will follow the reverse of this.

Road Closure - Saltash Christmas Festival

4 December 2021 

Due to the Saltash Christmas Festival, Fore Street will be closed from 1000 until 2300 on the 4 December.  During this period bus services between the Tamar Bridge and Callington Road will operate via North Road and Glebe Avenue in both directions.

Overnight Road Closures – Trevenson Road, Pool

5 to 10 December 2021

Due to resurfacing works there will be an overnight closure on Trevenson Road between its junctions with Dudance Lane and Station Road.  During the closure period, from 1900 to 0600, between the 5 and 10 December, buses will divert via Dudance Lane and Station Road and will not serve stops at Cornwall College and McDonalds.

Overnight Road Closure – A388 Dirty Lane to Carkeel Roundabout

6 to 10 December 2021

Due to roadworks the A388 will be closed overnight between the A38 Roundabout and Dirty Lane at Carkeel from 1900 to 0600 between the 6 and 10 December.  During the closure period Go-Cornwall Service 12 will divert via the A38 and Stoketon Cross and will not serve stops at Carkeel.

Road Closure – Towan Road, Constantine 

6 to 10 December 2021

Due to pipe laying works Towan Road will be closed between the 6 and 10 December.  During the closure period Go-Cornwall Service 56 will be unable to serve Constantine.

Road Closure – Trevella, Crantock

6 December to 17 December 2021

Due to South West Water pipe laying works, the road by Trevella Holiday Park will be closed between the 6 and 17 December.  During the closure period the following diversions will operate.

Go-Cornwall Service 85

Truro to Newquay Diversion

The 0631 departure from Zelah to Newquay will run from Crantock back to Cubert then via the A3075 to Newquay on its normal route. There will be an approximate 20 minute delay for this journey.

The 0710 departure from Truro to Newquay Monday to Friday, being the school bus, will run as above to Crantock Gardens then back to Cubert then via the A3075 to Newquay. There will be an approximate 15 minute delay for this journey. On a Saturday the 0710 departure from Truro will wait at Cubert for the Truro bound bus to connect Crantock passengers to Newquay.

The 1410 departure from Truro on Monday to Friday will run its  normal route to Crantock turn around and head back to Cubert then via the A3075 to Newquay, due to the other bus being a school run and later running. On a Saturday this bus will run as far as Cubert and wait for the Truro bound bus.

All other departures from Truro to Newquay will run as far as Cubert Shop and wait for the Truro bound Service 85 due at 5 mins past the hour. The Truro bound 85 will then pass Crantock passengers onto the Newquay bound bus and the Newquay bound 85 will run via the A3075 to Newquay.

Newquay to Truro Diversion

All Service 85 journeys from Newquay to Truro will operate via the A3075 to Cubert Crossroads and then turn right to Cubert. Buses will then turn right to run to Crantock, turn around Crantock Gardens as normal, and then run back to Cubert onto the normal route.

Whilst operating this diversion buses to Truro will collect all passengers, even those heading to Newquay. Buses will then connect with the Newquay bound service at Cubert for Crantock passengers to go onto Newquay and Truro passengers to stay on the bus.

The afternoon Tretherras School run on Monday to Friday from Newquay Bus Station at 1435 will not have to collect Newquay bound passengers as it passes through Crantock.  Due to it being at a later time the Newquay bound bus will operate the diversion as well.

The 0735 departure on Monday to Friday from Newquay bus station will also not have to collect Newquay bound passengers as the morning Tretherras school run will operate full diversion route on the way to Newquay.

First Kernow Service U1A

All journeys on the U1A in the evenings and Sundays will all operate into Cubert from Cubert Crossroads and also serve Crantock

Due to the diversion involved there will be delays to services.

Rail Service Disruptions

Network Rail Maintenance

Disruptions on Great Western Railway (GWR) lines are available on the GWR journey check website. Disruptions on the wider rail network are available on the National Rail website.

From May, train timetables will only be available for 6 weeks instead of the usual 12 weeks. This is expected to be the case for 6 months due to engineering projects across the country. To find out more and to plan your journey, please visit the GWR website.
