Planned Public Transport Service Disruptions

Please read our information on how we are supporting residents and businesses, as well as information on affected services.

The list below shows the current known service disruptions for bus and rail services within Cornwall.

View all current and future planned roadworks that do not necessarily affect bus services. 

Bus Service Disruptions

Road Closure – Hellescott Road, North Petherwin

Until 23 April 2021

Due to an emergency closure for repairs to the bridge on Hellescott Road, which is expected to be in place until 23 April, Transport for Cornwall Service 425 is operating a diversion between North Petherwin and Egloskerry via the B3254 and will not be able to serve stops on Hellescott Road

Road Closures – Truro City Centre Ongoing from 12 April 2021

Daily road closures in the centre of Truro will commence on the 12 April between the hours of 1100 and 1500 to allow for social distancing for pedestrians.

During the closure hours buses will divert as follows:

Local Bus Services: During the closure hours all Transport for Cornwall and First Kernow inbound bus services from the railway station direction will divert via St Austell Street and will not serve the Museum and Boscawen Street stops.  Outbound services towards the railway station from the bus station will operate via St Austell Street, but will still serve Victoria Square.  Transport for Cornwall services 493, 494, 495, 496, 484, 497, run by Travel Cornwall, will mainly pick up and drop off at Lemon Quay. They will not serve the Museum, with Victoria Square only being served by Service 484 departures to Malpas Road Estate.

Park and Ride: During the closure hours services will be unable to serve Quay Street.  For passengers travelling towards Tregurra Park and Ride you should use the stop outside the Truro Museum on River Street.  For passengers travelling towards Langarth Park and Ride, you should use the stop in Victoria Square.

Overnight Road Closures – A3074 Carbis Bay

12 to 23 April 2021

From the 12 April until the 23 April the A3074 at Carbis Bay will have closures on weekdays only for resurfacing works.  The works will take place overnight, starting at 1900 and will be finished by 0600 in the morning.  This will affect evening local bus services in and out of St Ives along this stretch of road after 1900 Mondays to Thursdays on the 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 April.  First Kernow Services A17 and T2 will operate under diversion during this period to and from St Ives.  For further information please refer to the First Kernow.

Overnight Road Closure - A38 Roundabout to Dirty Lane, Carkeel 

12 April 2021

Due to roadworks the A38 will be closed between the A38 Roundabout and Dirty Lane at Carkeel from 2100 on the 12 April.   During the closure period Transport for Cornwall Service 12 departures from Launceston at 2025 and 2225 and from Plymouth at 2110 and 2310 will divert via the A38 and Stoketon Cross and will not serve stops at Carkeel.

Road Closure – Carclaze Road, St Austell 

12 to 16 April 2021

Due to roadworks Carclaze Road between its junction with Slades Road and Phernyssick Road will be closed between the 12 and 16 April 2021.  During the closure buses will operate as follows:

Transport for Cornwall Service 30 will divert between Slades Road and Phernyssick Road via Treverbyn Road the A391 and Carclaze Road.

Transport for Cornwall Service 27 and First Kernow Service 27 between St Austell and Bodmin from Phernyssick Road will divert via Carclaze Road to the A391, from Bodmin the reverse will operate. Stops on Treverbyn Road will not be served.

Road Closure – Castle Drive Praa Sands

12 to 16 April 2021 

Due to road works Castle Drive in Praa Sands will be closed from the 12 to 16 April.  During the closure period Transport for Cornwall Service 2 will only operate via Pengersick Lane turning in Trewartha Road and will not serve stops on Castle Drive and Pentreath Lane. 

Road Closure – Penjerrick Hill, Mawnan Smith

13 April 2021

Due to roadworks Penjerrick Hill will be closed between 0930 and 1530 on 13 April.  During the closure period Transport for Cornwall Service 35 will divert via No Man’s Land Road and will not be able to serve stops at Bareppa and Chapel Town Close in Mawnan Smith.

Weight Restriction - Boundary Road, Bodmin

15 March to 14 May 2021

From the 15 March until the 14 May, Transport for Cornwall Services 10, 11A, 55 and 89 will operate under diversion. This is due to a weight restriction on Boundary Road.  The restriction is between Bodmin Community Hospital entrance and the A389 Westheath Avenue.  All journeys on these services will divert in and out of the hospital via Dunmere Road.  They will not be able to serve their usual stops on Westheath Avenue.  Passengers are advised to use the main hospital stop or stops on Dunmere Road instead.


Rail Service Disruptions

Network Rail Maintenance

Disruptions on Great Western Railway (GWR) lines are available on the GWR journey check website. Disruptions on the wider rail network are available on the National Rail website.

From May, train timetables will only be available for 6 weeks instead of the usual 12 weeks. This is expected to be the case for 6 months and is due to engineering projects across the country. To find out more and to plan your journey, please visit the GWR website.
