Planned Public Transport Service Disruptions

Please read our information on how we are supporting residents and businesses, as well as information on affected services.


The list below shows the current known service disruptions for bus and rail services within Cornwall.

View all current and future planned roadworks that do not necessarily affect bus services. 

Bus Service Disruptions

Weight Restriction - Boundary Road, Bodmin

15 March to 14 May 2021

From the 15 March until the 14 May, Transport for Cornwall Services 10, 11A, 55 and 89 will operate under diversion. This is due to a weight restriction on Boundary Road.  The restriction is between Bodmin Community Hospital entrance and the A389 Westheath Avenue.  All journeys on these services will divert in and out of the hospital via Dunmere Road.  They will not be able to serve their usual stops on Westheath Avenue.  Passengers are advised to use the main hospital stop or stops on Dunmere Road instead.

Road Closures – Truro City Centre Ongoing from 12 April 2021

Daily road closures in the centre of Truro will commence on the 12 April between the hours of 1100 and 1500 to allow for social distancing for pedestrians.

During the closure hours buses will divert as follows:

Local Bus Services: During the closure hours all Transport for Cornwall and First Kernow inbound bus services from the railway station direction will divert via St Austell Street and will not serve the Museum and Boscawen Street stops.  Outbound services towards the railway station from the bus station will operate via St Austell Street, but will still serve Victoria Square.  Transport for Cornwall services 493, 494, 495, 496, 484, 497, run by Travel Cornwall, will mainly pick up and drop off at Lemon Quay. They will not serve the Museum, with Victoria Square only being served by Service 484 departures to Malpas Road Estate.

Park and Ride: During the closure hours services will be unable to serve Quay Street.  For passengers travelling towards Tregurra Park and Ride you should use the stop outside the Truro Museum on River Street.  For passengers travelling towards Langarth Park and Ride, you should use the stop in Victoria Square.

Overnight Road Closures – A3074 Carbis Bay

13 to 23 April 2021

From the 13 April until the 23 April the A3074 at Carbis Bay there will be closures for resurfacing works.  The works will take place overnight, starting at 1900 and will be finished by 0600 in the morning. 

This will affect evening local bus services in and out of St Ives along this stretch of road after 1900 on Mondays to Thursdays on the 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 April as well as on Sunday 18 April. 

First Kernow Services A17 and T2 will operate under diversion to St Ives via Lelant Downs and St Ives Stennack to St Ives Malakoff Bus Station. Stops along the A3074 at Lelant, Longstone Cross and Carbis Bay to the bus station won’t be served.  Great Western Railways will accept First Kernow bus tickets on their branch line rail services between St Erth and St Ives after 1900 for passengers wishing to travel to Lelant, Carbis Bay and St Ives. 

Road Closure - B3285 Town Hill, St Agnes

18 April 2021

The B3285 will be closed at Town Hill in St Agnes on Sunday 18 April between the hours of 0730 and 1800.  During the closure First Kernow Service 87 journeys from Truro to Newquay will divert at Sevenmilestone to Goonbell.  At the bus shelter, it will turn right to Wheal Kitty where it will then resume its normal route.  The service towards Newquay will be unable to operate through St Agnes. Passengers will have to use the bus shelter stop in Goonbell.  The closure will not affect the route of journeys from Newquay to Truro which will run as normal. 

Road Closure – Hellescott Road, North Petherwin

Until 23 April 2021

Emergency closure for repairs to the bridge on Hellescott Road are expected to be in place until 23 April.  During this time Transport for Cornwall Service 425 is operating a diversion between North Petherwin and Egloskerry.  The diversion is via the B3254 and will not be able to serve stops on Hellescott Road

Road Closure - Higher Fore St, Redruth

19 to 21 April 2021

Higher Fore Street will be closed between the 19 and 21 April.  During the closure services operating via Higher Fore Street and East End will divert via Wesley Street and Sandy Lane.  They will not be serving stops at East End.

Overnight Road Closure - Trevemper Roundabout, Newquay

19 to 30 April 2021

Due to road works the A392 between Trevemper Road and the Treloggan Road Roundabout will be closed overnight from 1900 between the 19 and 30 April.  First Kernow Service 87 and Transport for Cornwall 85 towards Newquay will divert via:

  • Trevemper Road
  • the boating lake and
  • Treninnick Hill, Treloggan Road to the A392 roundabout

They will then turn and resume their normal route. From Newquay the reverse will operate.

Rail Service Disruptions

Network Rail Maintenance

Disruptions on Great Western Railway (GWR) lines are available on the GWR journey check website. Disruptions on the wider rail network are available on the National Rail website.

From May, train timetables will only be available for 6 weeks instead of the usual 12 weeks. This is expected to be the case for 6 months and is due to engineering projects across the country. To find out more and to plan your journey, please visit the GWR website.
