You can apply for an older or disabled person's bus pass online.

It is a quick and easy way to;

  • Make your first application
  • Renew a pass that is expiring or has already expired
  • Report a pass that has been lost, damaged or stolen

If you are not able to apply online yourself you could ask someone to help, such as a family member or friend.

Things to have ready before you start your application

Before you start your application, you must have the following information:

What evidence do I need to provide?

When applying for a pass you will need to show evidence of your address and of your disability or age.

Evidence of address

Please provide one of the following:

  • Bank statement
  • NHS medical card
  • Benefit book / letter
  • Council tax bill
  • Photo driving licence
  • Optical / medical prescription counterfoil
  • Utility bill

Evidence of disability or age

To prove you are eligible for a bus pass, it is important to provide up to date evidence.  This must relate to the category under which you are applying.  All evidence must be less than 12 months old.

Please make sure that you have included all the evidence with your application, failure to do this can delay the application process.

Please note that we do not accept ESA documents other than for proof of address.

Please only send us photocopies of your documents. If you send an original document, we will not be able to return this to you unless you ask us to return the document and enclose a stamped addressed envelope. 

I have been asked for extra information - what do I do?

We may contact you about your application either by email or post if extra information is needed. We will tell you what extra information is required.

If you are unable to provide the required evidence, you can call us on 0300 1234 222 for advice. You can also request evidence from your Doctor or medical professional via a letter. You can also ask them to complete page 2 of the application form for you.

Please note that some surgeries may charge a fee for this service.

You can re-apply at any time. Please remember to submit all your documents and your photograph again. Including any new evidence you wish to submit.
