There are lots of privately managed car parks in Cornwall which are totally independent of Cornwall Council.
These car parks are not managed by us.
We have no control or powers over the fees charged in them, or how they are operated. There should be tariff or information boards at the entrance of a car park which will tell you who runs the car park.
We also have no authority over penalty charges issued in private car parks or on private land.
You might find the information on the British Parking Association website helpful if:
- you have received a parking ticket or have had a vehicle which has been wheel clamped
- you are wanting to know what you can do about it

The British Parking Association runs an Approved Operators Scheme.
It requires its members to follow codes of practice in their work.
You can appeal against tickets issued by its members through the independent appeals service. Parking on Private Land Appeals (POPLA)
