Who are Jigsaw?
Jigsaw are a team who help children, young people, parents and carers who have been sexual abused. Jigsaw also work with some children in care and care-leavers.
They do this by:
- Listening
- Offering a safe space
- Helping them understanding the impact of abuse
- Helping ease distress
- Exploring ways to keep safe in the future
Therapy is for children and young people of any age who are open to Children’s Services. Jigsaw can also support non-abusing parents/ carers.
Jigsaw Workers are a team of experienced therapists who are familiar with working with children who have had difficult experiences like abuse and neglect.
Jigsaw Sessions
Jigsaw sessions are arranged through your Social Worker working for Children's Social Care. We only accept referrals from Children Family Services but there are other organisations in Cornwall who can support children.
There are ten sessions for post sexual abuse work and twenty sessions for children in care/ care-leavers. The first session is an introductory meeting and usually the
- Child/young person
- Their parents or carers
- Jigsaw Worker
- Social Worker
Are invited to come. The other nine sessions are individual sessions with the Jigsaw Worker.
The sessions often take place in school or Family Hubs, but it could be anywhere that feels comfortable and safe for the child/young person.

Make a complaint about the Service
In the first instance, we advise people to talk to the Social Worker working with the child/young person. If that fails to resolve the problem, please contact the Complaints Manager.
