#KeepCornwallClean is a social movement that helps to protect Cornwall from:
- litter
- dog fouling
- fly tipping
- other environmental crimes
The Council has supported the brilliant Two-Minute Beach Clean community initiative with a donation of £9,000. This has provided tools and site boards. The initiative has resulted in about 1,000 litter pick events and the removal of about a tonne of waste each year so far.
The authority helps fund and support Clean Cornwall. This partnership has:
- facilitated the collection of 707 bags of litter since 1 January 2019
- distributed £86,4040 of High Street funding grants to 69 community projects in the last year
- marshalled 1,064 volunteer litter pickers sweeping the streets, beaches, parks and coast paths of Cornwall
The Council has also set up a Community Enforcement partnership Programme. Through this we have trained our civil parking enforcement officers to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for:
- dog fouling
- littering
- dogs on beaches
Fixed penalty notices issued have jumped from 17 in 2018/19 to 84 in 2019/20.
The partnership has carried out 1,930 high-visibility dog fouling patrols since 2016.
