Household recycling collections
Currently in Cornwall, we collect the following items for recycling from households:
- Cardboard
- Paper
- Plastic
- Metal packaging
- Cartons
- Plastic bags and wrapping
- Glass bottles and jars
- Clothes and textiles
- Food waste
In Cornwall, we ask you to sort your recycling into the different coloured bags and box. Sorting at home helps Cornwall produce higher quality, more valuable recycling than if everything were mixed in one bin. This makes it easier to find trusted companies to recycle Cornwall’s materials.
New to recycling?
If sorting your recycling feels overwhelming, try starting with just one item. Focusing on one material makes it easier to build the habit and you’re more likely to stick with it!
- Pick one item to start recycling – such as paper, plastic bottles or tins
- Order your recycling bag or box if you haven’t already
- Once it arrives, start filling it with the correct items, ready for your next collection day

Order recycling containers
We’ve temporarily run out of orange recycling bags due to supply delays. If you have extra cardboard, please put it out in a suitable alternative container.
While shortages continue, orders for other recycling containers are limited to one per household. Please only order if you have no usable containers.
If you need additional or replacement recycling bags, boxes or outdoor food waste caddies, you can order them using the link below.
