What is the accredited agents scheme?
The scheme provides a list of agents who have proven to the Council they can submit accurate applications. These are in line with the Cornwall Council Validation Guide.
The scheme is available for:
- Householder applications
- Tree works applications
What are the benefits of the scheme?
Planning applicants
Submitting an application for your home improvements may seem like a daunting task. An accredited agent may be able to help. Accredited agents have proven they can submit applications in line with the Validation Guide. For you this means your application is likely to be checked faster and avoid delays during the planning process.
Accreditation is not based on the quality of the proposal. It does not guarantee approval.

Benefits of becoming an accredited agent includes:
- Priority validation checks
- Advertising on the Council's Accredited Agent webpage
- You may also use the Accredited Agent logo on your business stationary
- Closer working relationships with the Council
What does it cost?
Planning applicants
There is no charge by the Council to applicants who chose to use an accredited agent. You will however have to pay the planning agents fee for their service.
Planning Agents
The Accredited Agent Scheme runs 1 January to 31 December. Annual membership costs - £259 inclusive of VAT.
Agents can join at any point during the year from the 1st of the month. The fee will be pro-rated for the number of months remaining in the scheme.

To become and accredited agent please complete the below entry form which incudes all the terms and conditions. Please email the completed for to planning@cornwall.gov.uk. Once the form is received a Support Officer will be in contact to take payment.

Buy with Confidence
In Cornwall we have a Buy with Confidence Scheme. This gives people in Cornwall with a list of local businesses committed to fair trading. Trading Standards Officers have approved every business listed. This followed a series of detailed checks. The businesses were then approved as a member of the scheme. This is to ensure that they operate in a legal, honest and fair way.
