An innovative new mobile phone signal coverage map is now available for residents across Cornwall to use.
What we have been working on
As part of our work to keep CornwALL Connected, we’ve been working with Streetwave to map signal coverage for the main four mobile networks.
(Virtual phone providers such as Giffgaf, Tesco and VOXI all use the four main networks)
What does it do?
We added signal checkers to our food waste trucks, which feeds data to the checker.
You can now can check which network provides the best coverage at any Cornish postcode.
It also has extra information including;
4G and 5G availability
download and upload speeds
and network-specific performance
It gives you a better picture of mobile signal performance than coverage predictions alone, which can often be inaccurate.
Your feedback is important
You can also report issues with signal too and the more data you provide the better picture it will give us. You can report the issues on the Streetwave page using the link below.
How to use the checker
Select your network from the drop down
Enter your postcode
Click on the 'Go' button to view the results or click on the 'Coverage map' button to see the coverage on a map.
*Disclaimer: This data is from a survey completed in Summer 2026. We collected it using waste collection vehicles, meaning not every single road is included. Some roads may show "No data" where measurements couldn't be collected. Cornwall Council will continue to examine ways of filling in gaps in the data where possible.
