Cornwall Council and Homes England are working in partnership to support the delivery of homes for Cornwall’s residents.
There are over 20,000 households on Cornwall’s housing register, together with over 800 households at risk of homelessness. So, there is an urgent need to deliver the homes that our residents need.
Homes England is the government’s main agency to help speed up housing delivery across the breadth of the country. They provide advice and guidance. They also provide opportunities to secure investment in social housing and infrastructure. This helps to unlock the delivery of housing and regeneration projects.
Cornwall Council is pleased to be strengthening its good relationship with Homes England. This is being done through the development of a Place Partnership. This is only the third partnership of its kind in England.
The Partnership continue to strengthen ties between the two organisations. This will enable joint working on Cornwall’s priority projects. This will:
deliver social and affordable housing
help us meet our housing targets to provide new homes the length and breadth of Cornwall
The partnership working will focus on 5 key themes:
Partnership Working. Working collaboratively to speed up housing delivery
Accelerating public sector led delivery. Working together to unlock and speed up public sector led housing and regeneration projects and programmes
Empowering private sector delivery. Empower local businesses and working collaboratively to unlock prioritised projects
Affordable Housing. Championing the delivery of affordable and low cost market housing within Cornwall
Local Plan. Supporting the Council to deliver Cornwall's next Local Plan. This will include addressing strategic infrastructure requirements
