If you are worried about your own or someone else’s mental health, call 111 and select the mental health option (option 2). This call is free and will enable you to speak to a mental health professional in Cornwall. Anyone, any age, any time. You can also call the Samaritans on 116 123 or text ‘Shout’ to 85258
Call 999 or go to the emergency department now if:
- someone's life is at risk, for example they have seriously injured themselves or taken an overdose
- you do not feel you can keep yourself or someone else safe
People in Mind
A collaboration between a number of community sector organisations. They offer non-urgent mental health support for people who are 16 and older in in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. You can call 01872 266383 via a dedicated telephone line 7 days a week 8am – 8pm or email welcome@kernowgateway.org.uk
People in Mind is a collaborative mental health and suicide prevention project. They offer targeted mental health support to people aged 16 and over in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
You can access non-urgent mental health support through the Community Gateway. The friendly Gateway team will help to identify your needs and put packages of support in place. You can also access support through the specific organisation listed below.

Age UK Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly offers lots of services and support for older people and their carers.
CHAOS Group supports those aged 16+ with complex needs. They have an additional focus on men within ‘high risk’ groups. This includes those working in construction, agriculture, and fishing industries.
Citizens Advice Cornwall and Pentreath
Citizens Advice Cornwall and Pentreath work together to deliver specialist mental health and debt advice. They ensure people accessing the service can focus on improving their mental health free from financial worries.
One to one counselling and support for people who self-harm and their families.
Cornwall Community Foundation manages the Community Wellbeing Fund. This supports further charities in Cornwall.
Cornwall Mind provides:
- Singing and walking groups for people bereaved by suicide
- 5 Ways to Wellbeing programmes for anyone that wants to improve their resilience and self-care
- Longer term peer support groups. These groups offer activities such as:
- music and creative workshops
- garden projects
- walking
- hearing voices groups and
- eco action wellbeing groups
Volunteer Cornwall is training HOPE Facilitators to provide HOPE (Help Overcoming Problems Effectively) peer support groups.
Young People Cornwall improves the quality of life for young people in Cornwall by delivering inspirational youth work which supports their needs and aspirations.
