I want to support others with their mental health

Supporting yourself and other people to better mental health, and knowing what to do in difficult situations, are really useful life skills. There are a variety of training courses open to people in Cornwall, to help achieve this.

Healthy Cornwall training

Healthy Cornwall has a wide range of useful training courses, covering topics around mental health. You can see the full range on their website.

Topics include:

  • Alcohol problems and substance misuse
  • Mental health training for frontline staff
  • Self harm awareness
  • Mental health first aid
  • Suicide first aid

They can also deliver workshops direct to your organisation, covering topics such as:

  • Stress
  • Menopause
  • Mindfulness
  • Sleep
  • Food and Mood
  • Wellness and more

Orange Button Community Scheme

People struggling with mental ill health, having thoughts of suicide or worried about a friend or family member, can now "push the button" when they see someone displaying a distinctive orange badge and ask them for information and support.

The Orange Button is worn by people who have:

  • undergone extensive mental health first aid
  • or suicide prevention training

Whilst they are not able to counsel people, they can help you find relevant services.
Take a look at the page to find out more about the Orange Button scheme, and how you can get on our free training.

Sound Doctor training for people at work

Free Online mental health training is now available for all working people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The training package has been developed and hosted by the Sound Doctor. It includes three modules covering psychological first aid, mental health and trauma awareness. Find out more on the mental health training for working people page.
