Amounts levied on Cornwall Council


Included within the Council's overall budget are levies which are payable to

  • Environment Agency (South West Region)
  • Cornwall Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (CIFCA). 

Both organisations set their levies on an annual basis.

The Environment Agency levy supports local flood risk management projects that are not funded nationally.  The CIFCA levy supports its operational role which includes:

  • ensuring the sustainable exploitation of sea fisheries resources and
  • protection of the marine environment from sea fishing

Environment Agency (South West region)

To support local flood risk management projects not funded nationally.

  • 2022-2023 charge: £437,031
  • 2023-2024 charge: £442,758

A 1.31% increase.

Amount of council tax at Band D = £2.15

Cornwall Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (CIFCA)

To fund budget

  • 2022-2023 charge: £1,263,573
  • 2023-2024 charge: £1,358,341

A 7.50% increase.

Amount of council tax at Band D = £6.59
