Sometimes life can throw challenges your way, and you need extra help to get to the place you want to be. This might include help with school, your friendships, family life, worries about your safety, your health or the health of someone close to you.
Young Futures brings people together that will help you get the support that is right for you, at the right time, based on what you think is most important.
What is Young Futures?
If you are aged 10 to 17 and live or attend school in the Camborne, Pool, Illogan and Redruth area, Young Futures can provide you with 12 weeks of support that is designed to match what you need and your interests. We can link you in with creative and fun things to do, provide advice, help you learn new skills and build your confidence.
The Young Futures team bring a range of services together to work out the best programme for you and you will be able to choose which things you want to do. The support offered can also include your family.
You will not be in trouble. Young Futures is about offering the right help at the right time, building on your strengths and supporting you to feel safer, happier and more confident about your future.
The support you could get
Your support will be based on what best suits you and your interests.
It could include:
trying new things such as sport, music or art projects
meeting up with other young people in groups or clubs
providing an adult or mentor to talk to and get advice
help with school now or your plans for the future
support with worries, confidence or well being
help for you and your family
advice about staying safe and making healthy choices
What happens next?
Your school or a worker who knows you will talk with you and your parent or carer about Young Futures.
If you agree, they will ask the Young Futures team to consider what help could be useful and put together some ideas.
A Young Futures worker will speak with you about your goals and the support you would like.
Together, you will agree a plan. The plan usually covers 12 weeks of support and you can change it if your needs change or you’d like to try something different.
Your Young Futures worker will keep checking in with you to make sure that you have what you need and help you review your progress at the end.
