Councillor Fair

About the event

The Councillor Fair was held on Saturday 18 January 2025 at County Hall, Truro.

The fair:

  • included information on Cornwall Council and being a Cornwall Councillor
  • provided an opportunity to learn about being a City/Town/Parish Councillor
  • included a question time session with existing Councillors
  • services that support Councillors were available to talk to and answer your questions

There was also the opportunity to meet with political groups to find out first-hand about the roles.

09:00 Arrival and Registration.
09:45 Welcome and Introduction by Cllr Pauline Giles BEM, Chairman of the Council.
09:50 Overview of Cornwall Council - Kate Kennally, Chief Executive (including an opportunity for questions).
10:20 Being a Cornwall Councillor - Matt Stokes, Monitoring Officer (including an opportunity for questions).
10:50 Being a City/Town/Parish Councillor - Sarah Mason, Cornwall Association of Local Councillors (CALC) (including an opportunity for questions).
11:20 Question and Answer Session with Political Group Leaders, Chaired by Cllr Pauline Giles BEM.
11:50 Closing remarks - Cllr Pauline Giles BEM, Chairman of the Council.
12:00 Lunch.
13:00 Political Group Sessions - An opportunity for candidates to meet with Political Group Leaders or their representatives.
