More than 95% of children in Cornwall secure place at preferred primary school
Parents in Cornwall find out today (Wednesday, April 16) which primary school their child has been allocated, with more than 95% offered their first preference.
Cornwall Council received 4,864 applications for reception places for September 2025, of which 4,658 have been offered a place at their first preference school.
This equates to 95.76%, which is slightly lower than last year’s figure of 97.62% and above last y.....

More than 97% of children in Cornwall secure place at preferred secondary school
Parents and carers in Cornwall find out today (Monday, March 3) which secondary school their child has been allocated, with more than 97% offered their first preference.
Cornwall Council received 5,748 applications for places for September 2025, of which 5,609 have been offered a place at their first preference school.
This equates to 97.58%, which is higher than last year’s figure of 95.71% and above last year’s nat.....

Waiting lists
Most schools hold waiting lists for all year groups.
Children can only be added to a waiting list in the following circumstances:
whereyou have applied for and you were refused a place; and
where the school holds a list.

New £1.4m facility opens at Redruth School to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
A new £1.4m facility for children with special education needs and disabilities (SEND) has officially opened at Redruth School.
Called an Area Resource Base (ARB), it offers specialist education to young people in the area who also played a key role in its design.

Residents asked for views on Saltash ‘school street’ proposals
Plans to cut congestion and improve safety outside a Saltash school by restricting traffic at the end of the school day have gone out to consultation.
Temporary traffic restrictions have been in place since 2020 preventing most vehicles from using Broad Walk outside Saltash Community School between 2.45pm and 3.15pm Monday to Friday.
