There are three types of sex establishments:
Sex Shops
Sex Cinemas
Sexual Entertainment Venues
Please note that not all premises within these categories automatically require a licence. The legislation contains specific provisions and exemptions which determine whether a licence is required.
Full details of the criteria used to assess whether a licence is needed can be found in the Council's Sex Establishment Licensing Policy
Please note, the Council's policy is currently due for review. However, the legal definitions, licensing requirements and legislative provisions referred to within the policy remain current and applicable.
