Are you looking to get started with computers or learn new skills for everyday life?

Beginners - Getting started with computers

This course is suitable for complete beginners.  

2.5 hours per week for 4 weeks.

You will learn:

  • the basics from switching on/off safely
  • what an operating system is
  • what apps are
  • some of the terminology
  • how to search on the internet
  • how to send and receive emails
  • create a basic document

Free* to some learners.

Foundation in Digital Skills

Suitable for people with some knowledge of using computers/laptops/tablets and would like to progress their skills from the basics.  

2.5 hours per week for 12 weeks.

You will learn:

  • further information on emails and document creation
  • saving and retrieving
  • home screens and accessibility features
  • screen locks and passwords
  • connecting to and safety on the internet
  • social media

Free* to some learners.

Digital Functional Skills - Entry Level/Level 1

Our nationally recognised, digital qualification is suitable for those with some digital skills.  It will give you the practical skills you need for work and life.  

2.5 hours per week for 18 weeks.  There is an expectation to attend each week and the course is not complete until you take the assessments in week 18.

It covers 5 main areas:

  • using devices and handling information
  • creating and editing
  • communicating
  • transacting
  • being safe and responsible online
