What is a Repair Café?
A Repair Café is a meeting place where people can come together to:
- alter or mend clothes
- fix broken furniture, electrical gadgets, bikes, toys, crockery and more
Want to learn how to:
- sew on a button?
- fix a zip on a coat?
- wire a plug?
These are some of the basic skills that can help us manage day-to-day and extend the life of the things we buy. Repair cafes offer the opportunity to learn something new by chatting with and watching the volunteer repairers.
Cornwall Repair Café Network
The Cornwall Repair Café Network supports both start-up repair cafes and those that have been running for a while. Our broader aim is to create a community, teach new skills, and challenge throw-away culture.
Benefits of the Repair Café Network include:
- connection to a Cornwall-wide network of repair cafes
- access to public liability insurance at no cost to you
- joining a directory of repair cafes in Cornwall
- promotion of your events through our social media channels and website
- access to a step-by-step guide which includes:
- advice on governance
- venue selection
- sample risk assessments
- and monitoring forms
