Sawdust

Can I recycle it?

Sawdust is not collected as part of your recycling collection.

You can compost pet bedding such as sawdust, straw and hay from ‘vegetarian’ animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc) using home compost systems.

You can also take sawdust to one of our Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs). If the sawdust has been used as animal bedding, please place it in the general rubbish container.

If the sawdust is unused:

  • put it in the wood container if it's from treated timber
  • put it in the garden waste container if it's untreated

If you're unsure which container to use, please ask a member of staff on site.

Which container?

Small amounts of sawdust can go in your rubbish bin.
