Can I recycle it?
Glass jars are collected as part of your recycling collection.
This does not include:
- glass cookware (Pyrex)
- drinking glasses
- ceramics
- vases
- nail varnish bottles
- mirrors
- light bulbs/tubes
Broken glass cannot be collected as part of your recycling collection. Carefully place any broken glass in a secure container before putting in your rubbish bin.
Which container?
Glass goes in your black recycling box for glass and textiles.
Metal lids go in your red recycling bag for plastic and metal packaging.
When is my collection day?
Useful information
Reuse or resell
If your jars are still usable, you could consider re-using them (for example, to pickle eggs or onions).
If you cannot find a use for them, you could also try posting your glass jars on a local selling platform for free.
