Glass bottles and jars

Can I recycle?

Unbroken glass bottles and jars are collected as part of your recycling collection. Remove any lids, tops and caps and place these separately in your red recycling bag. This includes non-food bottles like perfume, aftershave and face creams.

This does not include:

Broken glass goes in your rubbish bin. Carefully wrap any broken glass or sharp objects or put them in a sturdy plastic container like an ice cream tub. Clearly label the package so the crew know there’s broken glass inside and leave it out on top of your wheelie bin or sack.

Which container?

Glass goes in your black recycling box for glass and textiles.

Useful information

Reuse or resell

If your bottles and jars are still usable, you could consider re-using them (for example, to pickle eggs or onions).

If you cannot find a use for them, you could also try posting your glass jars and bottles on a local selling platform for free.
