Bottles and jars

What do I do with it?

Recycle at home or at a recycling centre.

  • rinse or wipe away any food
  • remove lids, tops and caps and recycle separately
  • put unbroken glass bottles and jars your red recycling bag at home, or
  • take it to a Household Waste and Recycling Centre
  • this includes food and non-food bottles and jars like perfume and face cream containers

This doesn't include:

Broken glass goes in your rubbish bin. Carefully wrap any broken glass or sharp objects or put them in a sturdy plastic container like an ice cream tub. Clearly label the package so the crew know there’s broken glass inside and leave it out on top of your wheelie bin or sack.
