If you share your bins with your neighbours

Collections for flats and HMOs

If you live in a flat or share bins with your neighbours, your containers may be slightly different from those used by individual houses.

If you have a silver caddy from when the food waste service began, you can use it to collect food scraps like:

  • vegetable peelings
  • cooked leftovers
  • eggshells
  • teabags
  • bones
  • and more

while you cook or clean up after meals.

If you no longer have your silver caddy, you can use any suitable container to collect food waste indoors. When your caddy is full, simply empty it into the shared outdoor food waste bin.

You’ll also likely to share recycling and rubbish bins with your neighbours. If you’re not sure about which containers to use, please contact your building manager or caretaker.
