Homes for Ukraine: Thank you payments

We are pleased to confirm that for anyone hosting people who are not related to them, thank you payments will continue.

In Cornwall, this will be at the current rate for the 18-month period of a Ukrainian guest's UPE visa.

The only exception to this is for people who are hosting a family member. In these cases, in line with government guidelines, thank you payments will now end.

The definition of a close family member includes:

  • a spouse, or civil or unmarried partner
  • a parent
  • a parent-in-law
  • a son or daughter
  • a son- or daughter-in-law
  • a step-son or daughter
  • a sibling
  • a grandparent
  • the spouse, or civil or unmarried partner of any of these people.

Hosts will need to reapply for thank you payments. When your guest moves on to a UPE visa, please get in touch on resettlementservice@cornwall.gov.uk to make sure your payments continue. You can also use this email if you are a new host who would like to find out more.

This new arrangement will also apply to any new Homes for Ukraine hosts. Find out more about hosting via the links to the right of this page.

After the 18-month extension period no more thank you payments will be made. At this time you might want to look at the Rent a Room Scheme or Ukrainian guests may choose to rent in the private sector.
