Community events and campaigns

Community events

To help foster vibrant, safe, and supportive communities Cornwall Council's Resettlement Service works in partnership with:

  • charities
  • volunteers
  • residents
  • community groups and
  • schools

on various events and campaigns throughout the year.

“There’s a huge amount of energy and activity bubbling through our grassroot organisations.  We are determined to nurture their capacity to play a leading role in resettling refugees.”

Emma Rowse, Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum

Refugee Week 2026 in Cornwall

Refugee Week takes place from 15–21 June 2026. It celebrates the skills, talents and strength of refugees and people seeking safety.

This year’s theme is “Courage.” It focuses on the bravery it takes to leave home and start again.

Events will be held across Cornwall, including exhibitions, performances and family activities. They are a chance to learn, share stories and meet new people.

Everyone is welcome to join in and support a welcoming, inclusive Cornwall. Watch this space for details of events.

Homes for Ukraine support drop-ins

Thank you to those of you who have attended our free community drop-in events to:

  • connect with local support networks
  • speak directly to the Council's Resettlement team
  • gain advice from voluntary groups
  • participate in activities and enjoy refreshments

We have met over 200 of you at the events which have been hosted with community groups across Cornwall.

Throughout 2026 we will be running more community-based drop-ins sessions across the county, so look out for details soon.
