Hayle Library and Information Service is managed by Hayle Town Council, supported by Cornwall Council. 

Browsing and Click and Collect

Hayle Library is now open for full browsing but click and collect is still available.

Due to a technical issue, Hayle is currently operating at reduced hours and will be closing at 12:30pm each day until further notice.

Accessibility

  • Wheelchair access to the main entrance (automatic doors).

Council payments and services

  • National Concessionary bus pass applications are quick and easy to apply for online.  
  • Recycling bags and boxes can be ordered online. Please use the request recycling equipment / recycling containment online form.
  • Council Payments. Payments for Council services cannot be taken at this location. This includes Council Tax or Business Rates. However there are a range of PayPoint and Post Office sites that accept both cash and card payments. Most Post Offices still accept cheques at no extra cost.  Your account will be updated overnight. Many PayPoint stores have longer opening hours, often including weekends. Events

Rhyme Time

While there is still no heating at Hayle Library Rhymetime will be held once a week on a Wednesday at 11am at The Passmore Edwards Rooms. There is parking around the back or people can park at the library and walk along (2 mins walk). 

 

Story Time

We are now doing Story-time, lego and crafts on a Saturday mornings at 11:00am. Ideally aimed at 3+ age group.

Facilities

  • The Citizen's Advice Bureau is in the library every other Wednesday morning from 10am to 12.30pm for free independent advice.  On the same Wednesday in the afternoon we have Homegroup in the library from 2 to 4pm for advice for people with physical health needs and/or disabilities.
  • We have 5 public access computers available for 30 minute sessions, one of which is attached to the scanner and printing is available
  • We occasionally have a computer volunteer who can assist with non urgent computer help, so pop in or contact us if you require some computer support
  • Free WiFi available
  • Community and wildlife reading garden overlooking the Hayle Pool Bird Reserve, open for all to use
  • Scanning, printing and photocopying available -10p for B/W A4 and 50p for coloured A4 and 20p for B/W A3 and £1 for coloured A3
  • There are public toilets in the main pay and display car park not far from the Library.
  • We have a small, free car park to the side of the library
  • Home Library Service - 

    We have a free Home Library service for those that are housebound and unable to visit the library. We have a couple of lovely volunteers who can choose books and deliver them once a month to your home. Either e-mail us or ring the number on this page to discuss this further.
