Renewing items

  • You can renew your items by logging in to your library account.
  • You can also renew your items at your local branch library or by phoning 0300 1234 111 Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 6pm.

You can renew books up to five times before we need to see them. If you still want the items, you need to bring them to the library for re-issuing. Items reserved by another library customer will only be renewed for one more week.

Returning items

You can return your library items to any library in Cornwall. It does not have to be the library you borrowed the book from. Check your local library opening hours before trying to return your items. You do not need to bring your library card to return items to the library.

There are no fines or fees for overdue items, but we ask that you try to return items on time. This allows our service to run smoothly for everyone.

Reserving items

You can reserve items through the online catalogue or in person at any Cornwall Library. We will send you an automated message by phone, email or post when your reservation arrives. Online self-reservations using online catalogue are free. There is a limit of 10 reservations at any one time.

Items not in our online library catalogue

If the item that you wish to borrow is not on our online catalogue, you can submit a book request, if it is in print, we will consider buying a copy for our stock.

Out of county inter-library loans

If the item you want to borrow is not in our online catalogue, not in print or included as part of our collection, it may be borrowed through an out of county inter-library loan. Out of county inter-library loans are items requested from other library services within the UK. Please note: There is no guarantee we will be able to supply the item. We will contact you as soon as we can about your request and let you know if we can supply it.

Charges apply to all out of county inter-library loan requests. The length of time it takes to get the inter-library loan will vary depending on the individual item request.
