The Multi-Agency Rapid Response Service (MARRS) is a partnership between
Cornwall Council
Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board
Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s CAMHS service (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service)
MARRS works with young people with significant mental health needs. It aims to provide intensive, effective help, quickly. It will reduce the risk of crisis and admission to hospital. This will help the young person to make progress from hospital care to a home that is suitable for them.
MARRS was set up in 2022-3 to meet an increased need for emergency mental health help for young people. It allows efficient working across different organisations, and to handle crisis situations. It has a 24-hour response, and a helpline for professionals who need extra support.
Positive Support Team
The Positive Support Team is part of MARRS. It is made up of Positive Support Workers, under a Lead PSW, working with social care. The team supports families to reduce hospital admission and treatment for mental health issues in young people. It also works to reduce the risk of family breakdown.
The team usually provides intensive parental support designed to meet specific needs. We work with families by
using a questionnaire to understand parents’ experiences and difficulties.
teaching techniques to build relationships within the family and encourage positive behaviour
teaching strategies to de-escalate, and make safety-plans for crisis situations
helping parents to engage with the support that is available, and ensure that the support network is working for them
helping parents deal with their own trauma, to be better parents themselves
