If you receive care at home from an agency, or if you attend a day centre, your service provider will invoice you for your contribution. They will tell you how to pay them. If you receive more than one service, you may receive invoices from one or more providers.
The amount you have to pay will not be more than your assessed weekly charge.
If you have a direct cash payment, the payment you receive from us will be reduced by the amount of your assessed contribution. This means that you need to pay your assessed contribution into your direct payment account.
If you move to a care home, you will need to pay any assessed contribution for your placement to the Council.
The safest and most convenient way to do this is via Direct Debit. Alternatively you can pay using our online payment system.
If you're not able to use either of the above options, you can call us on 0300 1234 200 and select option 3. You will need your invoice number available.
If you have queries regarding existing bills or invoices you can contact the Charging Income Team on 01872 324190 or at adultcarebilling@cornwall.gov.uk.
You will need to pay the home for items such as newspapers, chiropody and hairdressing.
The way you pay for your care changed from 28 September 2024
Prior to 28 September 2024 you paid your Client Contribution to your care provider.
We paid your provider the cost of your care, minus your Client Contribution
From 28 September 2024, you pay your Client Contribution to us. This will not affect how much you currently pay.
We will pay your provider.
You can find out why we're doing this on our Changes to the way you pay your Client Contributions page.
If you receive a Direct Payment, find out how it may affect it.
