Cruise Liners

The last decade has seen a rapid increase in cruise liner holidays worldwide.

Falmouth is a true reflection of this trend.

During 2016 we had over 20 cruise calls.

Modern liners can accommodate several thousand passengers and half as many crew again.

It is the role of the Port Health Authority to ensure that food hygiene standards aboard such vessels are of the highest order.

This is to prevent outbreaks of food poisoning.

Factory Fishing Vessels

This Authority also regularly carries out inspections of the fish processing operations on board British flagged fish factory vessels.

This is to ensure compliance under the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006. There are currently approximately 20 vessels on the Authority’s register.

This is the major part of the British fleet.

These vessels are required to present themselves for inspection annually.
