Cornwall residents are invited to nominate a care worker for a Proud to Care award to showcase and celebrate the fantastic work done by the care sector.
The awards aim to highlight the incredible work done by staff across the care sector in Cornwall.
Cornwall Council cabinet lead for adult social care and health Andy Virr said:
“With over 15000 workers supporting others across the region we know there will be many people who deserve recognition for the work they do.
“People who work in care play a vital role in ensuring people’s well-being and often go above and beyond to make a positive impact on the lives of the people they support.
“By nominating someone you can help us show appreciation for their hard work and dedication and also help raise awareness to others about how important care workers are.”
The award categories are:
- Newcomer of the year
- Care or nursing home worker of the year
- Community based worker of the year
- Personal Assistant (PA) of the year
- Learning disability/under 65 support worker of the year
- Dementia champion
- Hidden treasures (member of operational personnel (housekeeping, gardening, administration, finance, etc.)
- Social care nurse of the year
- Registered manager of the year – excellence in leadership
- Workforce development
- Innovation in care
Cllr Virr added:
“When putting forward your nomination please write as much detail as possible about why they deserve the award. Explain what they do and how it makes a positive impact.”
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday 20 July at Lys Kernow (New County Hall) in Truro.
Nominations will close at midnight on Sunday 30 June.
