More events mean more opportunities for a career in care

Proud to Care Cornwall has announced a series of new recruitment events that offer another opportunity to find your perfect role in Cornwall’s care sector.

The events will take place in September and October and follow on from successful recruitment events earlier in the year.

Suzanne Boyer, who attended a recruitment event in Penzance, said:

“It was a great event, very informative and everyone was lovely. I was lucky enough to be offered two jobs and I took a job as a support worker with Greenlight.

“It’s a really good feeling to see the people we support have a good life, to be able to get up in the morning and get themselves ready for the day. They rely on you to help handle situations or celebrate the good things with them. It’s a great feeling to be part of someone’s life that way.”

Cllr Andy Virr, Cornwall Council Cabinet member for adults and public health said:

“We know that many people who attended previous events have gone on to start new careers and have not looked back. Suzanne’s story is a perfect example, and there are many more like it.

“These are very friendly and informative events that will help you get more of an insight about what the work is like, speak to people who do the roles already and the people who are receiving care and support.

“The Proud to Care initiative has played a key role in supporting more people to have access to the care and support they need in Cornwall so please go along and play your part in helping people, as well as joining a sector that brings so many rewards to the people involved in it.”

The following events are taking place:

  • Thursday, 7 September, 10am – 5pm, St Johns Hall, Penzance
  • Tuesday, 19 September, 10am- 4pm, Truro Library
  • Thursday, 5 October, venue and time to be confirmed.
