People from Cornwall and across the UK are being invited to an online event on Thursday, February 10 to find out more about careers in health and care.
The event will be attended by representatives of Cornwall Council’s Together for Families social care and adult social care teams.
Proud to Care Cornwall, a Cornwall Council facilitated initiative that supports care providers from across Cornwall, will also be running workshops on the day.
Cornwall Council cabinet member for adult social care, Cllr Andrew Virr said: “This is a great opportunity for people to find out more about what it’s like to work in the social care sector in Cornwall. Some of Cornwall’s leading care employers will be there, offering job opportunities that could help you to make a real difference to people’s lives”
The event is being run by organisations from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Health and Care partnership and will host representatives from Cornwall’s acute hospital, primary care, nursing, pharmacies, therapists, social work and urgent care and community teams, as well as apprenticeships and volunteer services.
Laura Wheeler, Director of Integrated Primary Care for Kernow Health CIC and Acting System Director of Workforce said: “We want to let people know that Cornwall is open for business and we have some incredible opportunities for people to develop a fantastic career here. With the investment in our transport links, Cornwall is now more accessible than ever, with flight links to London and the North, and an upgraded road system it’s a great time to consider all that we have to offer here.”
Cllr Virr added: “This event is also a great opportunity to find out what it would be like to work in Cornwall Council’s social care teams, supporting people to live as independently as possible.”
